To reach the centre from Kingsbridge take A379 towards Dartmouth, following through the villages of West Charleton, East Charleton, Frogmore, Chillington to Stokenham. At the Stokenham roundabout follow the sign to the Right for Beesands and East Prawle. After approx 1 mile Turn Left at Beeson Pool Signpost for Beeson and Beesands, taking the immediate NEXT RIGHT with the UDC sign in the hedge. After 100 yards at the brow of the hill there is a turn on the Right with signs and wind turbine. You are there!**

WED 21ST DEC - SOLSTICE STROLL with Valerie Belsey - 2pm to 4.30pm
A chance to escape the pre-Christmas madness and experience the bracing beauty of the Start Day coast. Walking from UDC to the Start Bay lighthouse, through Beesands, Hallsands and back. Discover the coast paths and local history with local green lane expert and history enthusiast Valerie Belsey, Celebrate the shortest day of the year and get a mince pie on the return to UDC! Please bring suitable walking attire for the weather on the day. £5 Adults. Intermediate level walk. Booking is essential.

Join us to help plant trees & shrubs for our new agroforestry project, Discover Forest Foods at Underwood Discovery Centre. Learn about agroforestry and working with the landscape to grow food. Some events may include native tree planting. Free & soup & bread provided! Bring suitable weather gear, sturdy footwear & any food/drink you want alongside soup & bread. SAT 21ST JANUARY QUARRY QUEST Part 2 11.30am to 1.30pm
Come and discover the blue slate quarries of South Devon. Meet at the Underwood Discover Centre and we will take a look at one of the biggest open quarries in the area, Sunnydale on Beesands beach, before walking around the area for a couple of hours. Bring a packed lunch and wrap up warm. Walk led by Valerie Belsey Green Lanes expert and local historian.
SUN 22ND JAN - A WASSAIL CELEBRATION! - 3.30 to 6.00pm
With Beesounds Sunday we'll be singing to our newly planted Apple Trees in our Community Agroforestry project for a good Harvest. Special Guests are Cornish Duo LENSKI who will perform on the Hammer Dulcimer & Violin. There's hot soup with soda bread in the price of £5 for participants and £7 for audience members. FRI 10TH FEB - DISCOVER FISH - 10am to After lunch
The fishing history is rich on the Beesands/Hallsands coast line, come and discover the stories and species that have made this part of the coast so very tasty! Starting at the Underwood Discovery Centre, walking to Hallsands and concluding with a fishy lunch in Beesands (cost not included) this event is suitable for adults and children. No dogs please. Led by Valerie Belsey. Adults £4 Children £2 - Please book in advance. This walk is 5 miles. Road and coastal terrain with some up hill. Suitable walking and weather attire is required.

Back with a installment of our popular monthly musical gathering. This time with CREAG & MORWENNA a very popular south west duo on Harp and guitar. Come along to sing, play, listen and enjoy... with tales of the land and folk from before, experience the acoustic side of landscape. In a sustainably developed barn, on an organic farm hear our Special Guests performing acoustic delights in beautiful surroundings. Call to book a table. SAT 25TH FEB DISCOVER GREEN WOODWORKING - 11am to 4pm
Have a go at green woodworking, from coppicing, cutting & splitting to making simple products like spatulas, forks, spoons, dibbers etc. The work will be carried out using hand tools (may be some chain saw use by experienced operator for large felling) including axes, saws, draw knives and chisels. Plus use traditional green woodworking equipment including shave horses and pole lathes. Instruction will be basic and accessible. An opportunity to learn some traditional skills and how our woodland and hedgerow landscape can be looked after sustainably for our use while also benefitting the ecosystem. Come and hear STEVE BANKS from the popular local group Blue Jewel will be our guest artist from 4.30-5.00pm. He will play and sing songs with a local flavour, many with choruses. At Higher Farm in Beeson, our knowledgeable farmer Mike Rogers will walk you round his sea view organic farm. Hear about the microcosm of all the creature and plants that live together, learn about how organic farming fits into modern agriculture and discover our new agroforestry project. Fun for all the family on this great educational adventure. Book early to avoid disappointment! 2 miles easy walk. Please bring suitable footwear for walking in fields. Join us for seed planting for Discover Forest Foods: our agroforestry project, which could include vegetables, perennial herbs &/or ground cover plants with edible and other uses. A chance to learn about agroforestry and working with the landscape to design a sustainable food system that draws on the inspiration of natural ecosystems and mixed cropping systems utilised by smaller communities across the world. At Higher Farm in Beeson, we have our very own bird hide on Widdecombe Ley in Beesands, and have long been part of the nationwide RSPB Cirl Bunting project. Starting at the Underwood Discovery Centre, walking down to the Ley and back exploring the bird habitats and species native to the area. Bring a packed lunch to enjoy on this pretty organic farm after the walk. Advance Booking only. 2 miles walk easy with a slow uphill on the return. Please wear suitable attire. Adults £4, Children £2

Back with a twirl and spring in step is our April installment of the popular Sunday session. A Secret Special Guest will be playing up a springtime delight, come and join in or simply enjoy! Delights in the woodlands with living and natural sculptures, through hidden views and things unseen we bring to life a chestnut, oak and sycamore coppice. A weekend of art and nature, with a large hanging gallery of prints, sketches and drawings, Green woodworking, willow weaving and more workshops throughout the event. SUN 29th APRIL - DISCOVER WILD FOOD - 10.30am - 2.30/3pm
Forage with us for wild foods in the season of fresh spring leaves. We will harvest in the woodland, meadows and also in the new agroforestry project, Discover Forest Foods, to see whats growing. A great way to connect with the surrounding landscape, by picking and eating edible plants! At lunchtime we will cook our harvest over the fire & prepare baked potatoes, soup, salad and teas to share together. Booking essential as numbers limited, £5 adults, £2 children, family ticket £10.
